Goku’s Super Saiyan 4 Awakening in DragonBall Daima Episode 19 – A Game-Changer!
Toriyama’s Legacy Continues to Deliver the Most Iconic Moments in Dragon Ball History.
I still can’t believe what I just witnessed. It took me a while to even put my thoughts into words because Dragon Ball Daima Episode 19 absolutely shattered my expectations. Goku has finally returned to his normal size, and not only that—he went Super Saiyan 4 in one of the most jaw-dropping moments in Dragon Ball history. This moment wasn’t just hype—it was history in the making, and it’s a testament to how even beyond the grave, Akira Toriyama continues to amaze and surprise fans around the world.
The Perfect Build-Up to SSJ4’s Revea
Before even reaching Super Saiyan 4, Episode 19 gave us one of the best sequences in Dragon Ball history. In a direct callback to Goku’s legendary moment in Dragon Ball Z when he cycled through his Super Saiyan transformations against Majin Buu, we saw him do it again against Demon King Gomah. One by one, Goku went through Super Saiyan, Super Saiyan 2, Super Saiyan 3, and then the unthinkable happened—he transformed into Super Saiyan 4 in his full-sized adult body.
We had already seen Goku use this form in his mini state in Episode 18, which was already mind-blowing, but seeing it in his normal size took everything to another level.
Aesthetic Perfection: Goku’s SSJ4 Design in Daima
Looking at the images from Episode 19, this might be the best-looking version of Super Saiyan 4 we have ever seen. Everything about it screams raw power and intensity. Goku’s deep red eyes burn with primal energy, his vibrant crimson fur blends perfectly with his muscular physique, and the oversized hands tie the design back to the Great Ape form, reinforcing the transformation’s primal roots.
One of my favorite details is how his hair has a more refined and detailed structure compared to the GT version.Instead of just being black and spiky, Daima’s Super Saiyan 4 hair has a bold magenta hue, making it feel like a fusion of Saiyan and divine power. The way the fur is textured and the glow of the aura around him add to the feeling that this form is something beyond just a simple power-up—it’s a transformation that connects Goku to his very origins as a Saiyan warrior.
Comparing SSJ4 in Daima vs. GT
While Dragon Ball GT first introduced Super Saiyan 4, Daima’s version brings a fresh and modern take on the transformation. One major difference is the bulkiness of Goku’s arms—his physique feels much more ape-like and primal, staying true to the transformation’s connection to the Great Ape form. Some fans have pointed out that the exaggerated proportions seem extreme, but I personally love it because it emphasizes the raw, untamed power behind SSJ4.
Another major difference is how the transformation itself was handled. In GT, Goku required the help of Blutz Waves to access the form, while in Daima, Neva’s power appears to be the key to unlocking it. This could mean that Super Saiyan 4 might have a deeper connection to mystical energy rather than just Saiyan biology, which adds an entirely new layer to the transformation’s lore.
Goku vs. Demon King Gomah: A Battle for the Ages
Now, let’s talk about the actual fight. Super Saiyan 4 Goku went up against Demon King Gomah, and this battle was nothing short of legendary. One of the most insane moments was when Goku transformed and the sheer power behind his blows shook multiple Demon Realms, and his physique glowing from the SSJ4 transformation was an absolute spectacle to witness.
This episode was so well-animated that IMDB rated it a 9.9, which is one of the highest ratings Dragon Ball has ever received. The final scene of the episode, with Goku’s oversized hands and his iconic SSJ4 stance, was a direct homage to his appearance in GT, but with Daima’s unique touch making it even more impactful.
What This Means for DragonBall Moving Forward
Now that we know Super Saiyan 4 is a form Goku can access in Daima, the biggest question is—will we see it again in the main continuity of Dragon Ball Super? Since Daima takes place before Battle of Gods, it’s unclear how or if this transformation will be referenced moving forward. However, there are two possible ways it could be explained:
Neva’s Power Might Be the Key – If Goku needed Neva to unlock Super Saiyan 4, it’s possible that he can’t access it on his own. This would explain why we’ve never seen him use it in Super.
Toyotaro Might Integrate Daima Elements into the Main Series – With Daima being an official part of the franchise, Toyotaro could incorporate Super Saiyan 4 into the future of Dragon Ball Super, giving us a new explanation for how it fits into Goku’s power evolution.
Final Thoughts: A Masterpiece of an Episode
This episode was everything I could have hoped for and more. Seeing Goku return to his normal size and unleash Super Saiyan 4 in Daima was not only nostalgic, but it also proved that this transformation still holds weight in the Dragon Balluniverse. The callbacks to past moments, the animation quality, and the sheer excitement surrounding the reveal made this one of the best moments in the franchise’s history.
With just one episode left in Daima, I can’t wait to see how they wrap up this insane journey. Will we see one final surprise? Will Goku find a way to integrate Super Saiyan 4 into his power arsenal permanently? No matter what happens next, Episode 19 of Daima will go down as one of the most iconic moments in Dragon Ball history.
Massive shoutout to Yuya Takahashi for the impeccable animation throughout this episode. His work made this transformation even more legendary.
What did you think of Super Saiyan 4’s return? Do you think we’ll see it again in Dragon Ball Super? Let’s talk about it!
Had a random theory about Daima the other day while watching this transformation. Wouldn't it be crazy of this series is actually Beerus having the dream about the Super Saiyan God??!! I though about BOG when Beerus had the vision during/reminiscent and when Goku was talking to shenron about the SSG, and the SSG figure had a tail, red aura etc., just a random fan made thought theory lol
Everything about this super Saiyan 4 transformation was epic the animation was absolutely marvelous to me this is the best episode of the whole series I love the call back toriyama really gave us something special and I definitely think they're going to find some kind of way to integrate this into dragon Ball super but this transformation was definitely one for the books and Masako Nozawa voice acting was absolutely incredible but I cannot wait to hear Sean Schemmel it's going to be iconic
