Goku’s Super Saiyan 4 Transformation in DragonBall Daima: What It Means for the Future of the Series
The Long-Awaited Arrival of Super Saiyan 4
It finally happened. Goku has unlocked Super Saiyan 4 in Dragon Ball Daima, something fans have been waiting years to see. For so long, there’s been endless debate on whether we’d ever see this transformation return in an official capacity. Now, thanks to Neva, Goku has accessed this primal form, making it an undeniable part of the Dragon Ball story. While I don’t like throwing around the term "canon," since Toriyama never officially declared what is or isn’t, this moment in Daima solidifies that Super Saiyan 4 is a legitimate form Goku can access.
But with Daima taking place before Battle of Gods and everything that followed in Super, the big question remains—will we ever see Goku use this form again?
Breaking Down the Aesthetic of Super Saiyan 4 in Daima
Visually, this Super Saiyan 4 has some striking differences from the version we saw in Dragon Ball GT. Looking at the image, Goku still maintains the signature red fur covering his upper body, but his design feels much more in line with Daima’s unique animation style. His hair is a deep magenta instead of the jet black we saw in GT, and his body proportions seem even more primal. One of the biggest differences is his arm size—his biceps and forearms look massive, almost exaggerated. Some fans have been critical of this, but honestly, it makes a lot of sense. This form is rooted in Saiyan primal instincts, drawing from the Great Ape transformation. If you look at actual apes, their arms are much larger than their torsos, built for raw strength and power. It’s a subtle but logical design choice that enhances the transformation's bestial nature.
Compared to GT, where Super Saiyan 4 had a sleeker, more proportionate design, this version feels more rugged, almost wilder. The aura is also slightly different, as it carries a more mystical, divine energy rather than the blazing golden or red flames we’re used to. It fits Daima’s more magical theme, and I love how it makes the form stand out.
How Super Saiyan 4 Fares Against Demon King Gomah
The battle itself did not disappoint. Goku held his own against Demon King Gomah, showcasing the raw power of Super Saiyan 4 in a way that felt like a proper introduction. One of the standout moments was when he used an upside-down Kamehameha, catching everyone off guard. It was the kind of creative combat moment that Dragon Ball thrives on, and for a second, it really seemed like that attack might be enough to finish the Demon King. But as we all know, no final battle is that easy.
Goku’s use of Super Saiyan 4 in this fight proves just how strong the form is, but it also raises the question—was this just a one-time deal, or will it have future significance in the series?
Will We See Super Saiyan 4 Again?
The biggest question looming over this reveal is how it connects to Dragon Ball Super. Since Daima takes place before Battle of Gods, we’ve never seen any mention of this transformation in the main Super storyline. If this power-up isn’t referenced again, does that mean Goku loses access to it? One possible explanation is that the form requires Neva’s power to activate. If Neva was the one who unlocked it, it’s reasonable to assume that Goku can’t just transform into it whenever he wants without that external trigger.
On the other hand, Daima could serve as a bridge to bring Super Saiyan 4 back into Super’s continuity. Toyotaro, who is now steering the direction of Dragon Ball, could easily find a way to reintroduce it. Maybe we’ll see it play a role in the manga’s future arcs, especially since Super has started incorporating more elements from Daima.
Final Thoughts
Seeing Goku unlock Super Saiyan 4 in Dragon Ball Daima was one of the most exciting moments in recent Dragon Ballhistory. Whether or not it plays a role in the future of the franchise, it was an amazing callback to a form that so many fans have loved for years. The transformation sequence was perfect, the battle was intense, and the new design makes this version of Super Saiyan 4 feel distinct yet familiar.
There’s still so much left to explore, and as Daima moves toward its climax, I’m eager to see how this transformation influences the final battle against Demon King Gomah. Maybe we’ll see even more surprises—fusion, new power-ups, or an unexpected twist. No matter what, Dragon Ball continues to evolve, and moments like this remind me why I love this series so much.
What do you think about Goku’s Super Saiyan 4 in Daima? Do you think it will have a future in Super? Let’s talk about it!
I love the new super Saiyan 4 design it's a fresh new take on the form while giving us a nice throwback to GT the power of it was incredible he was wrecking King gomah I think Toyotaro can squeeze in this new transformation in dragonball super he can do it by letting it be on one time thing like we're Goku says he doesn't use this transformation that often but this was definitely epic I hope we get to see it in super
I cannot with the arms, though. It's a no. I understand, but still... Nope. Love the color.
