Goku even said "I never thought I see the day that Vegeta would allow himself to be a slave". So there was definitely some internal struggle that allowed him to act out that way. You nailed it when you mentioned "Finally". He knew he never won against him, but it's that drive that makes him who he is so I can't see why people are fighting this so hard 😆 (No pun attended)
